2009-2010 School Year
New Students: All new potential ALC students need to contact the ALC secretary at 323-4530 to find out the next available registration date. Registration for new students is held twice a month throughout the school year.
New students will need to come to the registration and orientation session, take the TABE, do an intake, and then be assigned a class to start in. The registration and orientation session takes about 3-4 hours to complete. Please bring a picture ID with you to this session. After the initial registration/orientation session is complete, you will sign up to come back to take the TABE test.
The TABE test is scheduled for new students once you have completed the registration/orientation session only. The TABE is 4 hours long and runs on a strict schedule and is by appointment only. No one will be allowed to test on the TABE unless they have completed registration/orientation and unless they have an appointment to test that day. Space is limited and so we cannot accommodate people who just decided to show up.
After the TABE test is completed, you will sign up for an intake appointment. This is usually a day or two after the TABE test is done. This appointment for intake is only 20 minutes long and you must be on time or you may have to reschedule. Please do not bring children to this appointment.
At this appointment, you will review your TABE results, set goals, complete some paperwork, and receive the start date for your classes. Any questions that you may have will be answered at this time unless they are quite lengthy. You can always reschedule for another time to review your questions after you start classes or whenever it is convenient for you.
Returning Students: If your TABE scores are more than one year old, we may have to have you retest on the TABE. Please contact Judy (ALC Secretary) at 323-4530 if you have questions about when you last took the TABE. If you attended last year, the TABE results are still good for the coming year.
All returning students need to contact the ALC secretary to get an appointment to come in and update their registration forms, complete their intake with the coordinator, and get a schedule to start classes. Even if you have attended school previously, we must have updated information from you before you will be allowed to start classes again. This process should not take more than about an hour to complete depending upon how prompt students are in their attendance.
We are looking forward to another successful year at the ALC and welcome any questions people may have about our services. If you have questions, please contact Sandy at 323-4530 or the secretary at the same number.
