1. Returning students (whose TABE scores are no more than one year old) call Judy(ALC secretary) at (701) 323-4530 to schedule for paperwork and an intake appointment.
2. New students come into the center by attending a registration/orientation session which is about 3-4 hours long. Please bring a current photo ID to this initial session.
After the registration/orientation session, students schedule an appointment for and attend a TABE test (4 hours long). After the TABE is completed, students sign up for an individual appointment with the coordinator to review their TABE scores, get questions answered, get a start date for classes, and complete some paperwork.
Both the registration/orientation and TABE sessions are offered afternoons and evenings to meet student needs. Please plan to be there early and stay the entire length of the time unless there is an emergency. Space is limited in registration/orientation sessions and students are accommodated according to the first there at the session. Those coming late may not be allowed to enter the session once it has begun. In that case, the student would have to come to the next session.

Intake Upon completion of the entire TABE test, students will chose an appointment time for intake. This appointment is usually a day or two after the student has completed the TABE test.
These appointments are 20 minutes long and it is important to be on time. The intake appointment serves to review the results of the test, answer questions, set goals, select a class schedule, and get a start date for classes.
Once a schedule has been selected, students can start class if there are openings in that particular class. If the classes are full for the time slot the student would like, they can either go on a waiting list or attend at another time until their preferred time schedule is available.
Class Schedules Students may choose from a variety of schedules as follows:
Monday through Friday mornings: 8:45-11:30 A.M. Monday through Thursday afternoons: 12:15-3:00 P.M. Monday through Thursday evenings: 5:30-8:15 P.M.
All classes are taught using an individualized approach, with each student having his or her own educational plan/goals and with each student moving at his or her own rate.
